2. Search Modes & Medical Synonyms
Three Search Modes
- Keyword Mode (Exact): Full Boolean algebra. Use uppercase
AND,OR,NOT, quotes for exact phrases ("colon cancer"), and parentheses:("ovarian cancer" OR "cervical cancer") AND curcumin NOT cisplatin. - Semantic Mode (AI Vectors): Finds conceptual relationships when exact keywords differ (e.g., “natural inhibitors of NF-kB in glioblastoma”).
- Hybrid Mode (Recommended): Runs both engines simultaneously and fuses rankings using Reciprocal Rank Fusion.

Whether you evaluate 5 targeted clinical trials, 50 comparative papers, or an entire cancer category with thousands of papers using the 21-Category Cancer Focus selector, OWEN dynamically scales its reasoning and token budget to analyze the entire cohort without truncation.
Corpus Selection Required: To maintain clinical rigor, prevent dilution, and substantially reduce hallucination risk, un-filtered queries across the entire 130,000+ paper database are disabled. You simply choose your active corpusβeither by searching and selecting studies or selecting a tumor category from the Cancer Focus dropdown.
4. OWEN Chat & Multi-Turn Evidence Exploration
The OWEN Chat tab provides an interactive, real-time conversational workspace grounded strictly in peer-reviewed evidence:

Every paper referenced appears as a clickable blue pill link. Clicking it automatically scrolls to and highlights that study in your library.
